What is Psi Chi?
Psi Chi is the National Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is open to graduate and undergraduate students who are making the study of psychology one of their major interests, and who meet the minimum qualifications. Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Psychological Society (APS). Psi Chi's sister honor society is Psi Beta, the national honor society in psychology for community and junior colleges.
How do I become a member?
To join the Rice chapter of Psi Chi you must have:

Declared Psychological Sciences as a major

Completed at least three semesters of college coursework

Completed 9 credit hours of Psychology courses (excluding PSYC485/488)

A cumulative GPA in the top 35% of your class (sophomore, junior, or senior) compared to your classmates across the School of Social Sciences (minimum 3.0)

A cumulative GPA of 3.0 in your Psychology courses
You will be invited to join Psi Chi at the beginning of the semester in which you meet these criteria. After you receive this invitation, you must submit an application and pay chapter dues in order to officially join Psi Chi. An induction ceremony is held each Spring to welcome new members into the society.
