Minor Requirements

Requirements for the Minor in Behavioral Medicine and Health Resilience

Students pursuing the minor in Behavioral Medicine and Health Resilience must complete:

  • A minimum of 8 courses (24-28 credit hours, depending on course selection) to satisfy minor requirements.
  • A minimum of 4 courses (12 credit hours) taken at the 300-level or above.
  • A maximum of 2 courses (6 credit hours) from study abroad or transfer credit. For additional guidelines regarding transfer credit, see the Policies tab.
  • A minimum minor GPA of 2.00 or higher in all coursework that satisfies requirements for the minor.

The courses listed below satisfy the requirements for this minor. In certain instances, courses not on this official list may be substituted upon approval of the minor’s academic advisor or, where applicable, the Program Director. (Course substitutions must be formally applied and entered into Degree Works by the minor's Official Certifier). Students and their academic advisors should identify and clearly document the courses to be taken.

1 PSYC 485 UNDERGRADUATE SUPERVISED RESEARCH is a variable credit hour course. Students must enroll for a minimum of 3 credit hours (and may enroll for a maximum of 6 credit hours) of PSYC 485 in order to fulfill minor requirements.

2 Students must enroll in the section of PSYC 485 UNDERGRADUATE SUPERVISED RESEARCH designated as the Behavioral Medicine and Health Resilience (BMHR) minor Capstone section. Instructor permission is required to enroll. Additionally, students must be placed with an approved faculty mentor. If a specific instance of PSYC 485 is approved to fulfill minor requirements, the approval must be formally applied and entered into Degree Works by the minor's Official Certifier.

At least 1 course (3 credit hours) must be selected from the Mechanisms and Processes: Individual, Neural, Biobehavioral category, and at least 1 course (3 credit hours) must be selected from the Populations and Systems: Social, Organizational, Structural category. The remaining 1 course (3 credit hours) can be selected from either category.
