Who are we?
The Psychological Sciences Graduate Student Association (PsycGSA) is dedicated to providing community and support for graduate students in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Rice University. Because our students are engaged in different classes, research, and activities, we aim to bring together and represent the interests of all graduate students in the department, inclusive of all research interest groups.
How do I join?
All students enrolled in graduate study at Rice University and pursuing a graduate degree in Psychological Sciences are automatically considered members of PsycGSA! This includes students enrolled in the Ph.D. AND terminal master’s degree programs. Each academic year, graduate students can nominate their fellow peers or themselves for leadership opportunities to be involved in PsycGSA.
What are some opportunities available to our members?
- LEADERSHIP: The PsycGSA executive board consists of elected students who work to ensure that the voices of all graduate students in the department are heard.
- MENTORSHIP: Our mentorship program pairs graduate students early in their programs with more advanced students to provide support and guidance while transitioning into graduate school life.
- DEPARTMENTAL SERVICE: Our members are involved in planning and organizing department events, including colloquium series events and socials.
- COMMUNITY SERVICE: We provide opportunities to engage with the university and surrounding communities. We also collaborate with other student organizations within (DEI Committee) and outside the department (Rice GSA, Rice Student Volunteer Program).
- PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: We work with faculty, staff, and students to provide opportunities for our members to develop skills and explore potential career paths.
