Welcome back!
As the spring semester comes to a close, join us as we proudly look back on all of PsycGSA's activities and events throughout the semester!
Prospective Students Weekend 2024
Prospective students joined us at Rice to learn more about the university, our department, and the Ph.D. program in Psychological Sciences! Led by our enthusiastic second-year students, the prospective students met with faculty and current students in their respective research interest groups and toured their labs. We were also joined by our very own Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, Dr. Seiichi Matsuda, who led the students on a tour of our beautiful campus!
PsycGSA Game Night
PsycGSA works hard and plays hard - grad students got together to enjoy some games BYOG ("Bring Your Own Game") style! Attendees participated in various board, card, and party games, with plenty of snacks and beverages to enjoy. The evening ended with a Mario Kart tournament, where everyone got to put their racing skills to the test!
Department Colloquium Events
This semester, we had the great pleasure and privilege of being joined by many fantastic speakers for our department colloquium events! Throughout the day, students, faculty, and other members of the department and community got to learn from their experiences and research. These events began in the morning with a breakfast and Q&A session between the grad students and the guest speaker. Then, in the afternoon, each invited speaker discussed their research with the students and faculty in the department. The day ended on a high note, with everyone enjoying a post-colloquia reception in the inviting outdoor courtyard.
PsycGSA Painting Social
With classes finally finished, our grad students came together to flex their creative muscles (and give their academic brains a rest)! Attendees, fueled by light snacks, beverages, and Bob Ross's wisdom, hit the paintbrushes and canvases to create fabulous masterpieces.
