Second-Year Project

All doctoral students are required to complete and submit a research project during their second year—even if you entered the program with a relevant master’s degree.

Please be sure to enroll in PSYC 572 (Second-Year Project).

The second-year project requirement can be satisfied by submitting (1) a master's thesis or a near-final draft of the master’s thesis or (2) a written report of a research project conducted at Rice.

By 5:00 p.m. on the last day of finals of the spring semester, submit a final copy of your second-year project to both your advisor and the Graduate Coordinator. This is a hard deadline and not subject to extension. If the research is not quite complete, it should be written as completely as possible.
