APPLICATION PROCESS

Application Deadline: January 15, 2017

Fall admissions only. Late applications may be considered until March 15, 2017. However, candidates who miss the deadline place themselves in a less competitive position.

How to Apply

Students applying for admission to our graduate program are asked to submit the following:

  1. Application Form: A completed online application for admission (available at https://psycgradapps.rice.edu when the application goes live on September 1, 2016). Please do not submit hard copies of documents uploaded to the online application, as it may delay processing of your application.

  2. Official Transcripts: Sent to the address below, one transcript from each college or university attended. Photocopies are not acceptable.

  3. Recommendations: Four letters of recommendation from people who are familiar with your scholastic and personal qualities. The online application will allow you to enter recommender information, and your recommenders will be emailed a URL for completing an online recommendation.

  4. GRE: Scores for the verbal, quantitative and analytical writing tests - the subject test in psychology is also desirable.
    - The school code for reporting your scores is 6609.
    - The department code is 2016.

  5. TOEFL: The Test of English as a Foreign Language is required for any student whose native language is not English, but is waived for international students who have received a degree from a university at which English is the official language of communication. The IELTS may be taken in lieu of the TOEFL. See our International Students page for additional information.

  6. Fee: An $85 nonrefundable application fee paid online by credit card or electronic check.
